District of Columbia Victim Assistance Academy: Shelter and Housing for Victims of Crime: From Emergency Shelter to Long-Term Housing
March 13 and March 15, 2017 from 9:00AM-5:00PM.
This academy will provide an in-depth look at all avenues for victims of crime seeking safe housing. Specific topics covered include legal rights of victims in public housing and shelter programs; different types of shelter – from low barrier emergency shelter to long-term supportive housing - and how victims can access them; advocating for survivors with specific housing needs; and the DC Crime Victims Compensation Program’s housing benefits and eligibility standards.
