On July 23rd, 2014 Director Melissa Hook of the Mayor's Office of Victim Services accepted the Navy’s Merit for Group Achievement Award from Navy Secretary Ray Mabus. The award was presented in aknowledgement of the actions taken and services provided by OVS staff in the  aftermath of the Washington Navy Yard shooting that occured on September 16, 2013.
